Client: Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
The Need
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) depends on highly trained air traffic controllers to manage the complex and dynamic flow of air traffic at airports nationwide and within its airspace. Effective training of both future and current air traffic controllers is vital to maintaining the safety and efficiency of the National Airspace System (NAS) and ensuring the highest safety standards for the flying public.
The Solution
Under the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Controller Training Solution (CTS) contract, ҹɫÊÓƵ is tasked with delivering comprehensive training solutions that enhance the skills and capabilities of air traffic controllers. ҹɫÊÓƵ provides classroom, simulation and specialized training services like curriculum and scenario development efforts to develop the next generation of air traffic controllers and support the current staff of certified professional controllers (CPCs). This work is performed at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and on-site at more than 227 FAA controller facilities nationwide.
How We Are Helping
Under the CTS contract, ҹɫÊÓƵ has been contracted to customize and deliver course materials, training exercises and assessment tools for air traffic control specialists. ҹɫÊÓƵ’s team of experienced instructors ensure that both new and current air traffic controllers get top-notch instruction, preparing them to handle air traffic safely and efficiently. The training combines classroom lessons with online learning and simulations to provide a well-rounded educational experience.
For seasoned air traffic controllers, ҹɫÊÓƵ is also contracted to offer advanced courses that focus on managing complex airspace, emergencies and new technology in air traffic management. These courses include training in quality assurance and safety control components. These training programs are designed to keep the skills of the experienced controllers sharp, ensuring they are well-prepared to tackle any challenges they might face.
The Impact
In FY 2024, the FAA met their FAA Academy air traffic control student throughput target of 1,800 students, the highest number in over a decade. Under the CTS contract and as ordered by the FAA, ҹɫÊÓƵ will continue to deliver new and enhanced training solutions, such as Virtual Remote Pilot Operator Support, designed to elevate performance and accelerate workforce readiness.
